Warren General Hospital Launches $7 Million "Building on Success" Capital Campaign to Secure the Future of Local Healthcare
When you need a hospital…Distance matters. Technology matters. Time matters.
Warren General Hospital (WGH) is proud to announce the public launch of its "Building on Success" Capital Campaign. This $7 million fundraising initiative represents a pivotal moment for the region, inviting the community to invest in the essential infrastructure and state-of-the-art medical equipment required to ensure high-quality healthcare remains local for generations to come.
A Strong Start: The Silent Phase Success
The campaign enters its public phase with significant momentum, having already secured substantial commitments during its initial phase from local leaders, businesses, and foundations. These early investments from partners who have contributed multiple high-level donations demonstrate deep-rooted confidence in the hospital’s independent future.
"The overwhelming support we’ve seen during the early stages of this campaign, from early phase donors, is a testament to how much this community values having an outstanding hospital right here in Warren," said Dan Grolemund, WGH CEO. "With the incredible foundation already in place, we are now calling on the entire community to help us cross the finish line. This isn’t just about modernizing a building; it’s about ensuring that when your neighbor, your coworker, or your family member needs life-saving care, the very best technology is waiting for them right here at home.”
A Proven Foundation for the Future
For over a decade, Warren General Hospital has served as a cornerstone of stability and excellence for Warren County. This campaign builds upon a decade of significant operational achievements.
"We have spent years building a foundation of excellence, but the true value of this hospital is measured in the lives we protect every single day," said Rick Allen, retired WGH CEO and Campaign Leader. "A vibrant, fiscally stable hospital is the engine of our community's well-being, supporting every resident and providing over 700 local jobs. When your neighbor or your grandchild needs emergency care at 2:00 AM, 'close enough' isn't good enough. This campaign promises our families that the very best will be right here in Warren, exactly when they need it most."
Investing in Critical Community Needs
The "Building on Success" campaign addresses the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape by funding immediate technological and facility requirements. Key areas of investment include:
Advanced Medical Technology: Replacement of MRI, CT Scanner, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound systems.
Specialized Unit Upgrades: Renovation of the Cancer Center Pharmacy "Clean Room".
Infrastructure & Facilities: Essential elevator replacements and renovations to WMG physician offices.
Understanding Our Strategic Future: The CAH Designation
These investments are supported by a long-term strategy that includes the hospital’s recent attainment of Critical Access Hospital (CAH) designation. It is important for our community to understand that this federal status is not a one-time grant or a lump-sum payment. Instead, CAH designation is a long-term reimbursement model that allows the hospital to receive higher, cost-based payments from Medicare and Medicaid over time.
This consistent stability of our "bottom line" ensures that the hospital can cover its daily operational costs. By stabilizing our daily operations through this federal program, we can ensure that every dollar donated by the community goes directly toward the cutting-edge equipment and modern spaces patients expect—rather than being diverted to bridge operational gaps.
The Power of Local Support
Following the tradition of community-wide movements, the "Building on Success" campaign relies on the collective strength of the region. WGH invites individuals, businesses, and foundations to partner in this effort through one-time gifts or multi-year pledges.
While several lead gifts have been secured, a variety of Naming Opportunities remain available to link family or corporate legacies to the hospital’s future. Remaining opportunities include departments, waiting rooms, and specific service areas:
Donors will also be recognized across four levels: Foundational ($1–$2,499), Framing ($2,500–$9,999), Keystone ($10,000–$24,999), and Capstone ($25,000 and above). Highest-level donors receive exclusive benefits, including private hospital tours and personal meetings with the CEO.
How to Get Involved Community-wide events will begin in early 2026. For more information on how you can participate, visit www.wgh.org/capital-campaign or please contact: Rick Allen, Campaign Leadership Email: rallen@wgh.org
