All volunteer positions, except those in the Gift Shop, are open to individuals twelve years of age or older. To work as a cashier in the Gift Shop, volunteers must be at least fifteen years of age. Once your application is approved, you will be asked to attend an orientation designed just for you, the volunteer. This process is designed to make you comfortable with the hospital surroundings so that you can be of greatest assistance to visitors and staff.
For individuals looking to assist with the hospital’s fund-raising efforts, the department of Volunteer Services offers positions within the Warren General Hospital Auxiliary. This organization regularly sponsors a number of charitable events including hospital book sales, jewelry sales, and the annual Gala Ball. The funds raised by these events partly support Volunteer Services’ financial commitments to various hospital programs including the chaplaincy program, Cancer Care Center, and educational scholarship program, which awards scholarships to high school students interested in pursuing medical careers. Membership to the Auxiliary has a nominal annual fee of five dollars. Lifetime memberships are also available for fifty dollars.
Outside of the hospital, the Auxiliary sponsors the installation and maintenance of Warren General Home Alert, an emergency response system available to residents of Warren County. Home Alert provides individuals in need of medical supervision, but who desire to live at home, with around the clock attention they deserve. The system features a special button that participants can press when they are in need of emergency medical attention. By pressing this button, Lifeline subscribers can be assured of an immediate response to their call.
