Occupational Therapy Assistant, Pediatric
WGH is hiring a skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to assist with patient care responsibilities in RehabWorks' pediatrics unit. In this role you will perform clinical and clerical duties per physicians' orders and hospital policies such as:
Responsible for providing patient care and treatment in accordance with the attending occupational therapist, physicians’ orders, Rehab Works policy, and Department procedure.
Provides occupational therapy services in a variety of setting including; inpatient, sub-acute, home health care, and outpatient settings.
Confers with attending occupational therapist regarding treatment of patients.
Performs limited reassessment measurements as required (i.e. ROM, MMT, grip/prehension strength).
Provides occupational therapy patients with therapeutic activities/modalities, mobility and transfer training to meet their specific goals.
Completes all necessary, ongoing, patient documentation in a timely manner. All documentation to be cosigned by an OTR/L as required.
Provide patient and family education for various treatment techniques (i.e. activities of daily living, adaptive equipment training, mobility/transfer techniques, exercise programs).
Fabricates custom splints for patients for the prevention of and/or correction of a specific deformity.
Prepares charges for treatment
Maintains department functions by adhering to department policies and procedures
Promotes good relations with patients and between other departments and services.
Assists with volunteer and student training as necessary.
Assists the occupational therapist in the use and care of supplies and equipment. Assists with the ordering of supplies and equipment as necessary. Requisition replenishment of supplies and equipment when needed.
Maintains knowledge of current and advanced developments and trends in the Occupational Therapy field through continuing education, recommending improvements or additions to the Department procedures with approval of the Director of Occupational Therapy.
Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities program in the Transitional Care in conjunction with the administrator.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the activities department within licensure and regulatory requirements under the direction of the administrator.
Work cooperatively with the activities aid to ensure that the resident assessment and the appropriate areas on the MDS are completed. Establish resident goals and approaches utilizing interdisciplinary process with other members of the health care team.
Participate in the resident care planning conferences as required.
Performs limited reassessment utilizing standardized tests as indicated.
Provide patient treatments, within their scope of practice, for feeding, exposure to foods, and sensory integration to achieve goals

Work cooperatively with other disciplines within the therapy department to administer patient care
Directly assists supervising OTR/L with patient scheduling, insurance authorizations, scoring of assessments, and other tasks as assigned by supervising therapy.
Requirements:
Graduated from an accredited college or university having an Occupational Therapist Assistant Curriculum, and satisfactorily completed the required affiliations in an accredited clinical setting.
Be licensed in or eligible for licensure in the State of Pennsylvania.
