Nurse Intern (RN)/Patient Care Technician — Summer 2026
Warren General Hospital is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate professional nursing students to support our patient care units. This position will perform a mixture of both clerical and patient care duties to supplement your ongoing nursing education.
In this role, you will:
Receive, greet, and direct patients, visitors, and hospital personnel arriving on or calling the patient care unit.
Receive requests from patients and families and refers requests to nursing staff or appropriate hospital personnel.
Make follow up appointments for patients as requested and documents on discharge screen.
Record and distribute items for patients and staff.
Assist with discharge planning process as directed, making follow up appointments for patients and recording in medical record.
Initiate, assemble, and maintain charts for all patients on the assigned unit, including scanning paper documentation into EMR as necessary.
Provide assistance to both nursing and medical staff in computerized order entry.
Ongoing observation of cardiac monitors and recognizing changes.
Add and remove patient information into the Telemetry system.
Run strips for each shift and presenting them to the appropriate nurse for interpretation. Labeling with a patient sticker.
Assist Staff Nurse and/or Provider in treatment procedures.
Help prepare unit, patient room(s), and patient’s bed (s) for receiving patients.
Assist patient in the admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
Provide routine patient care including but not limited to: (bed bath, if necessary; changing of bed linens; dressing/undressing patient, toileting) and other general care, as necessary.
As directed; takes and records: temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and weight, height, and intake/output measurements, pulse ox.
Prepare patients for meals, assists or feeds patients, as necessary, and removes tray. Distributes drinking water/ice and other nourishments to all patients.
Provide post-mortem care and assists transporting body to the morgue, when necessary.
Make rounds and anticipates patient’s needs, and answer/responds to patient call lights or paging; responds to bed alarms in a timely fashion.
Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a professional nursing (RN) program
Previous nurse aid or patient care experience preferred
Flexibility to work varying shifts and units
