Providing Patients with Medications

Providing inpatients with the medications and medication therapy management required to attain clinical goals, the Pharmacy at Warren General Hospital works closely with the medical and professional staffs.

Located on WGH’s third floor, the Department of Pharmacy Services is staffed with Clinical Pharmacists and Certified Pharmacy Technicians.

How We Protect the Patient

Warren General Hospital clinical pharmacists are responsible for monitoring and recommending optimal drug therapy to achieve disease-specific, evidence-based goals.

This is achieved by physician requested clinical consultation for managing drug-related effectiveness, resolving drug-related adverse events and preventing drug-related problems.

To guarantee the safety of patients, the Pharmacy at WGH utilizes the latest technology in the provision of prescription drug therapy. Pharmacists have on-line access to MicroMedex Solutions, an on-line database of comparative clinical information for all drugs and drug therapy for specific disease states.

In addition, WGH features medication distribution utilizing Omnicell, computerized devices linked to patient’s medical profiles that ensure accurate delivery of the correct medication, correct dose and correct time to patients at the bedside.
