Laboratory Functions
Warren General Hospital’s laboratory is divided into two sections.
The first section is phlebotomy where the staff devotes their time to drawing blood from patients who have been referred to the hospital by their physician. Patients can have their blood drawn during the hours listed below. After blood has been drawn, the sample is sent to the hospital’s full-service lab, which is open 24 hours a day. Once there, medical technologists and technicians are able to perform a wide range of tests on the blood, including:
- Hematology
- Coagulation Studies

- Cytology
The second section is laboratory services which houses WGH’s full-service blood bank and performs studies on the growth of cell cultures.
