The DAISY Foundation, a non-profit established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), honors nurses for their exceptional care. Patrick's family's gratitude for the nurses' support during his illness inspired this foundation. (DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.)
