Imaging Services
Imaging Services at Warren General Hospital provides physicians with the medical testing and internal mapping services
they need to properly diagnose their patients’ diseases.
Prior to receiving one of the department’s diagnostic tests, patients must be referred by their physicians. Upon referral,
these patients can then schedule an appointment with Imaging Services. Appointments are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday thru Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. In addition to scheduled appointments, the radiology facilities
in Imaging Services are always open for inpatients and emergency patients in need of immediate diagnostic testing.
The department of Imaging Services at WGH offers a wide-range of imaging procedures that include such fields as:
- Cardiology
- CT Scanning
- Diagnostic Radiography
- MRI
- Nuclear Medicine
- Ultrasound
Within these fields, a number of specific procedures and tests can be performed. Cardiology, for instance, features various stress
tests. CT Scanning provides doctors with the opportunity to obtain cross-sectional images of various areas of their patients’ bodies,
including their head, chest, and abdomen. Diagnostic Radiography offers such programs as mammograms and DEXA, or Dual Energy X-Ray
Absorptiometry, which allows doctors to measure their patients’ bone densities. Nuclear Medicine enables physicians to scan and locate
abnormalities in body structures as varied as the thyroid, lungs, and kidneys. And, just like Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound also
provides physicians with the opportunity to evaluate various body structures. Additionally, Ultrasound also allows obstetricians
to view images of a fetus and its surrounding structures.
Following an imaging procedure, a hospital radiologist will study the films of their patient. They will then dictate a
report about the patient’s results and this report will be sent to the patient’s physician within 24 hours.
All Imaging Services employees work to ensure the satisfaction of their clients. Additionally, in order to maintain the
highest level of quality within the department, all imaging technicians are certified and recognized by the American
Registry of Radiological Technologists, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, or the Nuclear Medical
Testing Certification Board.
