October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the staff at Warren General’s Screening Center is hard at work to make this year’s celebrating the best yet.
For the past several years, the staff has transformed the Screening Center every October into “Operation Pink”.” This year is no exception. Pink is everywhere and the Staff is proud to participate in this annual tradition.
Breast cancer awareness, however, should not be limited to only one month. About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lives. Breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer type, besides lung cancer. That being said, the staff at the Screening Center reminds women that early detection is the best protection against breast cancer and to make your annual mammogram on a regular basis. Mammography remains the single most effective method of early breast cancer detection.
Mammographers include Lead Mammographer, Christa Moore, RT (R)(M), Laura Garris, RT(R)(M), Candice Walden, RT(R)(M), Beth Stratton, RT (R)(M), Victoria Haight, RT(R)(M), and Wendy Brown RT(R). Their mammography skill and experience is top notch and each are registered members of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Warren General’s Screening Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology and offers both screening and diagnostic mammograms utilizing full- field digital and CAD technology. Other services available include breast ultrasound, ultrasound biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, needle localization, and breast MRI.
Appointment times are available to accommodate almost everyone this October. The Screening Center is located inside Warren General Hospital and offers extended appointment hours in October: Monday through Friday 7am-6pm and every Saturday 8am-3pm. Please call (814) 723-2677 to schedule your annual mammogram.
