Hospital Visitation Policy

Effective June 29, 2020

One Visitor Support Person

Support person expectations:

  • Accept screening and be without symptoms of cough, fever or shortness of breath
  • Wear mask at all times
  • Limit travel outside of patient room and waiting areas
  • Remain as the same support person through the stay 
  • Accept times of visitation
  • Support person must be 18 years old or older


Support person guidelines:

  • All inpatient, observation, surgery, and ED patients are allowed to have one healthy person during assigned visitation hours.
  • Check in at the nurse’s station prior to entering the patient room


Support person hours:

  • Maternity Patients: Noon-2:00PM, 4:00PM-8:00PM  
    • Labor support person can remain with laboring mom and one additional adult visitor is permitted during visiting hours after the birth.  
    • No children may visit, except siblings of the infant, and siblings must be accompanied by 1 adult
       
  • Pediatric Patients: Noon-2:00PM, 4:00PM-8:00PM
    • One parent may stay with the minor patient 24/7 during their hospitalization.  
       
  • IMSAC/CCU: 10:00AM-Noon, 4:00PM-8:00PM
    • Limit one visitor per patient
    • Only 1 minor permitted at a time, and only with a responsible adult

 

  • Cancer Center:
    • No visitors permitted, except:
      • Parent with minor child is permitted
      • Patient first time consultation or first time chemo
      • Any time decision making is needed or new information is to be shared
      • End of life situation

 

  • Behavioral Health: 6:00PM-7:00PM
    • Limit one visitor per patient
    • Minor visitors limited to siblings and children of patients, and only with a responsible adult


Special considerations:

  • COVID-19 patients:
    • COVID-19 patients not at end of life will not be permitted to have visitors
    • COVID-19 patients who are at end of life will be permitted to have one support person

 

  • Surgery:
    • Surgery patients may have one support person wait in the waiting room or with the patient at the discretion of the surgeon.

 

  • End of Life:
    • Non-COVID-19 end of life patients may have visitors as permitted by their attending physician.

  • All patients are allowed to have one healthy person accompany them unless directed otherwise by staff or provider.
  • Check in at the registration prior to entering a patient room.


Special considerations:

  • COVID-19 patients:
    • COVID-19 patients not at end of life will not be permitted to have visitors
    • COVID-19 patients who are at end of life will be permitted to have one support person
       
  • Surgery:
    • Surgery patients may have one support person wait in the waiting room or with the patient at the discretion of the surgeon.
