FIRST DAISY AWARD WINNER FOR WGH Colleen Rex, RN

On February 20th, 2020 a Medical-Surgical / Oncology Nurse at Warren General Hospital was Honored The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse.  The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.

The first DAISY Award recipient at Warren General Hospital is Colleen Rex RN.  Colleen was nominated by a family member of a patient she cared for on the Medical-Surgical Unit back on September 29th, 2019.  The patient’s family member noted Coleen for being “very attentive, pleasant and smart.” This family member also stated that Colleen Rex RN was the type of nurse that communicated well between the patient and Physician making the patient more comfortable with their stay at Warren General Hospital.

"My husband was being cared for on 3B after an episode of syncope. Colleen was very attentive, pleasant, and smart. My husband can be somewhat stubborn and she was able to make him laugh and more willing to stay within the hospital. There was also great communication between her and the physician and my husband throughout our stay. Thank you, Colleen"

Congratulation Colleen!
