WHAT THE WARREN GENERAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY DOES

Did you ever wonder about what the Warren General Hospital Auxiliary does for our hospital community?  You might be surprised at the things they do!

The General WGH Auxiliary Membership numbers 142 dedicated adult and junior volunteers who give their time and energy to make our local Hospital the community asset that it is.  These volunteers provide many services throughout the Hospital-Outpatient Information Desk, Inpatient Visitors Desk, Imaging, Emergency Room, One Day Surgery, Window Box Gift Shop, Window Box Café, and Cancer Care Center.

The Auxiliary Board of Directors is a working board that meets monthly and whose purpose is to, on a voluntary basis, aid, support, and promotes the functions of the Warren General Hospital.  Fundraising to support hospital departments’ needs is an important and vital role.  These are some of the things the Auxiliary Board does:  sponsors a variety of sales throughout the year including book sales, sports sales, medical uniform sales, daffodil sales, linen sales; operates the Window Box Gift Shop; purchases volunteer uniforms for adults and junior volunteers; pays ½ of the operating costs of the payroll deduction Quickcharge program; purchases annual hospital employee gifts during Hospital Week; plans the annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon; offers $1,000 health-related scholarships to 5 students each year; purchases Christmas decorations, including 12 Christmas trees, lights, bows, poinsettias, door stockings and evergreen garland; decorates the hospital for the Christmas season; sponsors Gift Shop holiday “muggings”-weekly drawings for mug filled with candy and other treats given to a hospital employee/volunteer during December; sponsors two Angel Giving Trees during the holiday season; monies raised go to various hospital departments each year; plans and holds the annual Gala; sponsors the annual Holiday Basket Contest in December; purchases wheelchairs for the  Hospital and for the Tidioute Clinic; donated to the Cancer Care Center Renovation ($150,000) and Valet Parking Project ($15,000) per year; sponsors free popcorn days at the Window Box Gift Shop; sponsors and subsidizes the Personal Emergency Response Service, “Warren General Home Alert;” purchases tables, chairs, and other hospital necessities as requested by hospital staff and administration; purchases art supplies for children to use in the One Day Surgery waiting room and Walk-in-Clinics in Warren & Tidioute; participates in community health promotions, such as the Senior Expo and Tidioute Health Fair; plans seasonal flu vaccine clinics throughout the county.

When help is needed, when equipment is needed, when money is needed, when cheer is needed, when fun is needed.......THE WARREN GENERAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY IS THERE!
