Warren General Hospital offers a variety of special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. You are welcome to take advantage of the following services:

Health Education

The entire Warren General Hospital staff welcomes you to ask questions regarding any testing, medication, or treatments you receive during your stay. We believe that educating our patients, their families, and loved ones is one of the most effective methods of preventing increased illness, suffering, and expense. Our patients are our own family, friends, and neighbors. We want to keep you well because we are all members of the same community.

Available Educational Resources

Our professional staff will assist you with understanding your diagnosis, your medications, and any skills required to insure your progress towards health. We will provide bedside training by registered nurses, physicians, and therapists. Also written handouts, video, and live demonstrations are available. Also, we can provide ongoing support after discharge. Many programs are available:

Spiritual Care

Our Chaplain regularly visits Warren General Hospital patients. Those patients who have listed their church on the admission form are on file for the use of the clergy. The Chaplain or your nurse will gladly contact a clergyman of your choice for you. If you have a special concern and wish to speak with the Chaplain please contact your nurse.

There is a Chapel available on the second floor of the hospital for persons of any faith. Patients and their families are invited to use the Chapel for prayer and meditation.

Mail

Volunteers deliver letters, packages and flowers for patients as they arrive. Letters and parcels that arrive after you have been discharged are forwarded to your home. Stamps and stationary may be purchased in the Gift Shop. Outgoing mail may be left at the nurses’ stations or given to a volunteer.

Shopping Service

As a hospital patient, you can purchase gifts, newspaper, stationary, cards, etc., as you need and want them during the following hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

To shop, dial 1842 on your bedside telephone during volunteer shopping hours. Our volunteers at The Window Box Gift Shop will take your order and tell you the amount that you owe. Be as specific as possible concerning your needs. The Inpatient Visitor Desk volunteer will deliver items.

To pay, you will need to have payment on delivery, cash only. When you call to order, it would be helpful if you could tell the volunteer the denomination of the bill with which you will be paying so that proper change will be available.

The selection of items includes stationary, magazines, greeting cards and playing cards; personal care items such as tweezers, nail care items, chap stick and dental floss; gift items; fresh flowers and snacks (if your diet allows).

Newspapers

The Warren Times Observer is delivered to each patient Monday – Saturday by a volunteer. If you do not receive one and would like one, please ask your nurse.

Notary Public

The services of a notary are available for patients free of charge. To arrange an appointment please ask your nurse to contact Social Services for you.

TTY Phone /Deaf Services /Foreign Language Assistance

Special telephone interpretive services are available to assist the hearing impaired, or those with difficulty understanding the English language. Two telecommunications devices are available at Warren General Hospital for use by hearing impaired person. Please ask your nurse for assistance.

Valet Parking

Free valet parking is available. Door-to-Door service is also available. Let our attendants drop you off at the door closest to your scheduled appointment. They will park your car in a designated, supervised area of our parking lot. Call ext. 1580 and we will pick you up, or return your car to the Outpatient Pavilion entrance at your request at the conclusion of your appointment. Valet parking is available Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
