About Us
If you or a loved one has Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes, Heart Disease, or are looking for an effective weight management program, Warren General Hospital offers Diabetes Education, certified by the American Diabetes Association, and Medical Nutrition Therapy Services. Medicare and some private insurance now recognize the value of nutrition management and cover the service with a written physicians order. Please read further for more information on Diabetes Education or Medical Nutrition Therapy services.
Diabetes Education
Regardless of age, it you are a newly diagnosed person with Type l, Type ll or Gestational Diabetes (insulin or non-insulin dependent), a previously diagnosed person with diabetes, or caregiver who wants current information and support, we are here to help.
Diabetes is a life long disease in which the body either cannot produce enough insulin or cannot use the insulin it does produce. Without insulin, the body cannot use food for energy. Using the right treatment tools, a person can live a normal, active lite with diabetes.

At Warren General, our Diabetes Education Program provides both inpatient and outpatient instruction, administered one on one and in group sessions. Classes are offered at various convenient times throughout the year.

Medications and monitoring
Health maintenance
Prevention of complications
Nutrition Management
Good meal planning is an essential tool in controlling diabetes. A registered nurse and dietitian evaluate individual needs, creating flexible, customized meal plans designed to meet a your goals.

Promoting a healthier lifestyle
How Can I Get Involved
To participate in our program you must request a referral from your physician. Many insurance plans will cover diabetes education.
