Inpatient Services

The Detoxification program at Warren General Hospital guides individuals affected by addiction through the first step on the road to recovery. We accept individuals aged 18 and older. A hospital based 6-bed program is designed in helping those with a chemical dependency to regain control of their lives.

Each year, WGH provides around the clock psychiatric care to approximately 400 patients suffering from acute mental illness. The program, which is co-sponsored by Deerfield Behavioral Health, allows individuals to receive the care and support they need.

In order to provide patients with quality care, WGH enlists the services of a number of board certified psychiatrists including: Mark Beuger, M.D., Omar Anthony Eslao, M.D., John John, M.D., Alexandru Vasile, M.D., and Ernesto Roederer, M.D. Dr. Beuger serves as the department’s medical director. In addition to providing services within the hospital, Deerfield also holds periodic depression screenings. The event is free of charge and open to any one in the community who wishes to receive a mental health check-up. To learn more information about the Psychiatric Services department at WGH please call (814) 723-3300 ext. 1875. In the case of a psychiatric emergency, however, please call 911.

Admittance

For the patient arriving at the Emergency Care Center, following an evaluation by a medical professional from Deerfield Behavioral Health, the patient may be admitted for care. Once admitted, the patient will undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation. This process helps define the individualized plan of care for the patient. The plan may include individual, as well as group meetings. A primary nurse will provide patient assistance as needed. Social workers are also available to work with patients’ families offering support.

Discharge

Before being discharged, a wellness plan will be developed with input from the patient and our staff members. This plan will help the patient to return to his or her normal life and may include outpatient services. If admission is not indicated, a detailed discharge plan outlining recommendations for follow-up care will be provided. This plan will serve as a guide on the road to mental wellness and may include scheduling an appointment as an outpatient with a therapist at Deerfield’s office on 514 W. Third Avenue in Warren.

Outpatient Services

With psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, clinical social workers, professional counselors, and four outpatient substance abuse programs, DBHW is Northwest Pennsylvania’s largest rural provider of outpatient mental health and substance abuse services and has been providing these services since 1993. Our services include:

Mental Health Outpatient Services

You can call the office to schedule an evaluation, but a referral from your primary care physician or other mental health provider is required. Based on your needs, an evaluation will be scheduled with one of our mental health providers. At this appointment, treatment options will be discussed with you. You and your clinician will work together to determine what treatment options are best for you. Options may include therapy, medications, education and/or referrals for other services. Most insurances are accepted.

Geriatric Consultation

The psychiatrists and certified nurse practitioners provide weekly consultation to area skilled nursing and aging programs to work with the mental health needs of our senior citizens.

Child/Adolescent Services

Our psychiatrists work with area agencies to collaborate in the provision of psychiatric evaluation and treatment for our area youth.

Substance Abuse Services
