Who We Are
Warren General Hospital can offer both inpatient and outpatient resources. Our staff of board certified psychiatrists are fully
qualified to develop a plan of action to help you on your road to recovery.
Our staff provides evaluations, therapy and medication-management programs for outpatients. Licensed therapists
provide services dealing with a wide range of issues, including eating disorders, anxiety and depressive disorders,
reactive attachment disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as assistance in addressing a variety
of life circumstance problems.
Warren General has a psychiatric nursing unit for adults needing treatment in a hospital setting. The behavioral services
staff also provides consultations for medical or surgical patients, perform neuropsychological evaluations, offer psychological
services and serve as part of the emergency team.
Helping those with a chemical dependency to regain control of their lives, the Detoxification program at Warren General
Hospital guides individuals plagued by addiction through the first step on the road to recovery.
Inpatient Services
Each
year, Psychiatric Services at Warren General Hospital provides around
the clock care to approximately 400 patients suffering from acute
mental illness. The program, which is
co-sponsored by Deerfield Behavioral Health, allows individuals to
receive the care and support they need. For the patient arriving at the
Emergency Care Center, following an evaluation by a medical
professional from Deerfield Behavioral Health, the patient may be
admitted for care.
Once admitted, the patient
will undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation. This process helps
define the individualized plan of care for the patient. The plan may
include individual as well as group meetings. A primary nurse will
provide patient assistance as needed. Social workers are also available
to work with patients’ families offering support.
When
discharged, the patient will be presented with a wellness plan from
members of psychiatric services. This plan will help the patient to
return to his or her normal life and may include outpatient services.
If admission is not indicated, a detailed discharge plan outlining
recommendations for follow-up care will be provided. This plan will
serve as a guide on the road to mental wellness and may include
scheduling an appointment as an outpatient with a therapist at
Deerfield’s office on 524 W. Third Ave. in Warren. Typically,
Deerfield Inpatient services provide care for individuals who are 14
years of age or older. In special instances, however, Psychiatric
Services may deem it suitable to admit children under the age of 14.
These instances may result through referrals from the Warren County
School District. In addition to working with the school district,
Deerfield also assists local businesses that are concerned about the
mental health of their employees.
In order to
provide their patients with quality care, Psychiatric Services at WGH
employs a staff of twenty. The department enlists the services of five
board certified psychiatrists: Dr. Mark Beuger, Dr. John John, Dr.
Charles Norton, Dr. Alexandru L. Vasile, and Dr. Ernesto Roederer. Dr.
Roederer serves as the department’s medical director. In
addition to providing services within the hospital, Deerfield also
holds periodic depression screenings. The event is free of charge and
open to any one in the community who wishes to receive a mental health
check-up.

Mental Health Outpatient Services
You
can call the office to schedule an evaluation, but a referral from your
primary care physician or other mental health provider is required.
Most insurances are accepted. Based on your needs, an evaluation will
be scheduled with one of our mental health providers. At this
appointment, treatment options will be discussed with you. You and
your clinician will work together to determine what treatment options
are best for you. Options may include therapy, medications, education
and/or referrals for other services.
Geriatric Consultation
The
psychiatrists and certified nurse practitioners provide weekly
consultation to area skilled nursing and aging programs to work with
the mental health needs of our senior populations.
